Capturing the essence of somebody’s being when doing a portrait is like hitting the sweet spot. In this recent portrait drawing of father and daughter, I think I hit that sweet spot. It really shows her innocent energy and playfulness, and his love for his little princess. What she’s doing is slapping a sticker of Dora the Explorer on his forehead, just in case you’re wondering!
Every now and then I squeeze in some art for decoration in our own home. Our living room wall above our couch has been bare and begging for some attention. Some nice artwork would really complete the room, so a couple of weeks ago I started on my own “art with meaning” project. I use colored pencils and acrylic paint to create 5 pieces of art, using pictures from our honeymoon in Ibiza in 2009, that I’ll soon custom frame myself. Now we have some nice art to look at and fill out our living room!
If you are interested in this type of artwork for you and your significant other(s), just let me know by using the contact form or “request your custom art with meaning” page!
- I recently turned this photo of baby Victoria with her visiting grandparents from Portugal into a portrait drawing that was given as a surprise gift to them. Mario, the grandfather, is also a talented artist. I’m glad they liked it and have some meaningful artwork to display in their home back in Portugal!
